Set within the Grampians, this compact off-grid home was designed to sit lightly within its natural surroundings, with a strong focus on passive solar design, self-sufficiency and locally sourced materials.

Rammed earth walls provide the home’s thermal mass, using locally sourced gravel from within 30km of the site. Double glazing, sustainably sourced timber, solar power and water storage further support its energy-efficient, off-grid design.

A locally sourced Dunkeld sandstone fireplace, natural landscaping and productive gardens reinforce the connection between the home and its surroundings, while the compact 11-square footprint keeps the design efficient without compromising comfort.
